Obituary

Johnie E. Baxter, 89, of Mark, Illinois, died June 11, 2010, at Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru, Illinois.

Visitation was held 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 13th in Helmer-Shields Funeral Home, Granville, Illinois, and 10 a.m. - 12 noon on Wednesday, June 16th at Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel, Neelyville, Missouri. Burial was Wednesday at Eaton Cemetary, near Naylor, Missouri.

Mr. Baxter was born Sept. 17, 1920, in Clay County, Arkansas, to John and Kate (Adams) Baxter. He married Dorothy Marie Attebery on Dec. 24, 1936, in Corning, Arkansas.

Mr. Baxter was a farmer and a carpenter his entire life.

Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Janice (Robert) Ossola of Mark, Illinois; one son, John Roger (Janice) Baxter of Winston Salem, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Adam Ossola and Lora Ossola, both of Mark, Illinois; and two brothers, Carney Baxter of Arkansas and Richard Baxter of California.
